Last Saturday my wife and I visited a few interesting places in Bucks county. Bucks county is located along the Delaware river in southeast Pennsylvania bordering New Jersey, and it’s full of natural beauty and historical landmarks.
What usually happens is unless on an extended weekend trip, we ends up spending more time driving to places than what we spend enjoying on a single day trip. This time is no different and we spent 6 hours driving and around 4 hours sightseeing.
At the beginning I asked Google Maps to avoid toll roads and what an opportunity it was for Google to punish me! Google Maps took me through all the jungles and narrow country roads it could find which wasted some time.
Bowman’s Hill Tower
The tower is located on top of Bowman’s hill in Washington Crossing Historic Park along the Delaware river. As the name of the park suggests, George Washington with his troops crossed this section of the Delaware river into New Jersey and attacked British troops in Trenton during the revolutionary war in 1776. The tower was built in 1931 to designate the hill top which may have been used by Washington to watch over his enemies.

Several miles of surrounding landscapes and a long portion of Delaware river can be seen from atop this tower. This could’ve been an excellent spot to watch over enemy movements for Washington.

Doylestown Art Museum
This museum has a good collection of sculptures that are free to enjoy. We also stopped by Fonthill Castle which is a popular destination for many people.

Peddler’s Village
A small village style shopping mall with decorative walkways, gardens, and streams flowing through. It has hundreds of shops that look like residence houses. From outside, it looks nothing like a shopping mall but a community housing. Let me warn you though, this mall is good for window shopping if you’re a budget conscious person.
