How Do You Measure Your Success?

Do you know how to measure success? If you don’t, you’re not alone. Because I don’t. I’m confused about this subject. I’m not even sure if success is really that important.

We work hard, risk a lot of things, make sacrifices, and give up comforts to be successful in life. But if you don’t know how to measure something, how do you know how much of it you have?

So, you may not be as successful as you might think you are if you don’t know how to quantify it.

I once thought success is measured mainly on the basis of education, wealth, and fame. But later realized I may be wrong. Because I saw people that are highly educated, wealthy, and famous but still living a painful life, and I thought how can this be possible. I’m not referring to physical pain here.

Let me ask you this, Is pain a side effect of success or failure? Without thinking, everybody will probably say pain results from failures and success brings comfort. But the definition of success is “the accomplishment of an aim or purpose.”

So, as long as your aim or purpose is achieved, you can call yourself a successful person. But the results of your success can still be painful.

I think pain or comfort it all depends on the type of choices we make in life not on the success. Choice is the destination.

“Success is a journey not a destination” – Arthur Ashe.

If you set your destination wrong then no matter how fast or how successfully you get there, you still arrive at a wrong place.

What do you think about success?

    1. Happiness matters the most I think. Your happiness is indicative of your good choices and successful completion of those choices. Thanks for sharing.
